Decision made effective for April 16, 2020 by the LHSLL Board; the LHSLL website published this message:
After significant reflection and analysis, the LHSLL board has no choice but to declare that no champion will be crowned for 2020 and that the remainder of the regular season will be canceled.
This decision was not easy, nor is it something the league leadership took lightly. With schools closed for the remainder of the academic year, with the cancellation of the Big Easy lacrosse weekend, and with LHSAA guidance that no sports will take place for the remainder of the academic year, the board accepts it must follow in kind.
The board is going to revisit the possibility of a summer tournament if conditions and governing authorities allow such an event at any point. Assuming there is any interest, and the logistics could be worked out, the league hopes to host a tournament that would likely allow participation by recently graduated seniors as a means of salvaging some end to their high school lacrosse careers and to provide a return to the field prior to 2021. We hope that everyone stays healthy and safe during this time.
